Okay, so like Uttarakhand is that one place you always see on Insta – mountains, temples, green forest types, rivers and all. And when you think, “bro I need a break” – this place pop in mind, no? But then when you start to plan, boom… too many tour packages. Too many choices. So much confusion. So I’m just writing this messy post to help you out. Don’t expect perfect english here, I’m typing like I talk
So why Uttarakhand only?
Uttarakhand is like that peaceful cousin of Himachal. Not saying better or worse, but just more chill. It has:
-
Temples everywhere. Char Dham, Kedarnath, Badrinath, you name it.
-
River Ganga flows like magic here.
-
Views = insane. Snowy peaks, sunset, hills.
-
Trekking, rafting, camping, peace, forest vibes.
-
Cute hill stations like Nainital, Mussoorie, Almora… etc.
Basically, whatever mood you in – spiritual, romantic, adventure – there’s something for all.
Types of Packages (like pick your poison)
Okay so I seen like 100+ tour sites. Everyone says “best package” but here’s what I found are mostly types:
-
Char Dham Yatra Package – this is for the religious trip. It’s kinda tough tho, with long travel, maybe 10+ days. Kedarnath is hard trek so ya, be fit.
-
Hill Station Package – Like Nainital, Mussoorie, Ranikhet. Chill vibes, boating, mall road walking and eating momos. Family or couple trip mostly.
-
Adventure Packages – Trekking to Valley of Flowers, Chopta, Har Ki Dun, that kinda stuff. Sometimes camping too. Cold but fun.
-
Yoga + Ganga Package – Rishikesh mostly. You wake up, do yoga, see river, peace life. Some rafting too maybe.
-
Wildlife Tour – Jim Corbett park. Safari vibes. If you lucky, maybe see tiger. If not, monkeys for sure
-
Mix Type (everything tour) – Agencies love this. 5‑6 day package with bits of everything. Sometimes good, sometimes too packed.
What’s usually included (and not included )
Okay listen properly. The poster may say “all inclusive” but not always true.
Included stuff mostly:
-
Hotel stay (basic or decent)
-
Cab or bus travel (from Dehradun / Haridwar)
-
Some food (usually breakfast)
-
Sightseeing, guide sometimes
Not included (they hide this):
-
Entry tickets to parks, temples, cable cars
-
Lunch and dinner (you pay)
-
Tips to drivers, porters
-
Adventure stuff (rafting, paragliding etc)
Ask clearly. Else they say “sir that is extra” after reaching there.
When to Go? (Season matters bro)
Weather changes everything here. I went in April, was amazing. My friend went in August, got stuck in landslide
-
March to June: BEST. Flowers blooming, sky clear, good time for trekking.
-
July‑August: Monsoon. Very risky. Roads break, plans cancel. Unless u love rain, don’t go.
-
Sept‑Nov: Also good. Green and nice views.
-
Dec‑Feb: Cold. Snow in places like Auli, Chopta. But roads slippery. Take thermals.
Sample 5-Day Plan (messy but works)
Here’s what my cousin did (I copied from his WhatsApp message lol):
-
Day 1: Dehradun to Mussoorie. Mall road, camel back road walk. Stayed night.
-
Day 2: Mussoorie → Dhanaulti → back to Dehradun
-
Day 3: Drive to Rishikesh. Did river rafting, Ganga Aarti. Stayed there.
-
Day 4: Rishikesh to Haridwar, temple visit, chill.
-
Day 5: Return home. Legs dead, phone full of photos.
He booked mid-range package, costed around ₹18,000 per person (with sharing cab and 2-star stay).
Real Budget or Fake Offers?
Bro don’t fall for fake Insta ads saying “Uttarakhand in ₹4,999 only ” – that’s just scam or half info.
Here’s honest range:
-
Budget Package: ₹10k‑15k for 4‑5 days. Basic hotel, shared cab.
-
Mid‑range: ₹20k‑35k – decent hotel, private cab, better food.
-
Premium: ₹40k+ – 3‑4 star stays, full A/C cab, fancy food.
Off season = cheaper. But rains and cold. So choose wisely.
What to Pack (don’t mess this up)
People forget basic things. Then cry there. Here’s my short packing list:
✅ Warm clothes – always, even summer, nights get cold
✅ Power bank – charging may not be easy
✅ Pain balm – hilly roads, back pain possible
✅ Raincoat – coz rain loves surprise
✅ Shoes with grip – for trekking
✅ Cash – network gone, UPI won’t work in some dhabas
✅ Snacks – for those loooong drives
Also carry patience. Not kidding.
Do’s and Don’ts
✅ DO:
-
Talk to 2–3 agencies before booking
-
Read reviews (real ones, not the 5-star fake)
-
Keep buffer days in case plan changes
-
Ask agency for hotel pics before
-
Book in group if possible – cheaper and fun
❌ DON’T:
-
Don’t overpack your schedule. Rest is important.
-
Don’t book only based on price. Low price = low quality, mostly.
-
Don’t expect 5G everywhere. Network goes bye-bye.
-
Don’t litter in hills. Uttarakhand is beautiful, keep it like that.
Places You Should Def Visit (Trust me bro)
-
Mussoorie – clean and chill. Gun Hill view is ❤️
-
Rishikesh – Rafting + Ganga Aarti = combo trip
-
Nainital – Lake boating + momo eating = 10/10
-
Chopta – Like mini Switzerland. But cold af
-
Valley of Flowers – Nature on steroids.
-
Jim Corbett – For wildlife fans. Or people who like jungle resorts.
-
Kedarnath – Spiritual + Trekking. Go only if you can trek long.
Final Thoughts (messy conclusion lol)
Uttarakhand tour packages are a lot. But don’t get confused. Think what you want — chill, adventure, family time or solo detox — and then book accordingly. Don’t go just by pics or cheapest deal. Call the people, ask dumb questions (better than being sorry later), and double-check what’s included.
Also, don’t be that traveler who rush every place just for Instagram. Sit somewhere, have chai, talk to locals. That’s when real trip starts.
So, book smart, pack well, and go live your “mountain wali life”
